I was out early a couple of Saturday’s ago hitting the garage sales in my area and found this very cute vintage sewing cabinet on a street called “Barron” in Welland, ON. You know when you see something and you “just know” that you have to have it. The guts of the sewing machine had been taken out I’m sure many years ago. I just loved the details and walnut finish on top. I knew this was going to be my contribution to the #blingbling Fab Furniture Flipping Contest sponsored by Country Chic Paint.
I had been following the Fab Furniture Flipping Contest for about six months and thought I would take the plunge and participate this month. Coincidentally, it is a contest open to all furniture flipping bloggers that would like to participate. It is a wonderfully supportive and positive group on Facebook. If you’re interested you should head over and join in on the festivities!!
The month of May was sponsored by Country Chic Paint and their theme was #blingbling. So I entered back in Mid April and was confirmed that I would receive free product in exchange for a write-up on my blog and Facebook. Here is my Disclosure: This post does NOT contain an affiliate link, which means that if you click on the product link, I’ll receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Although this post is considered sponsored, all opinions are 100% my own.
I started by stripping, sanding and refinishing the top with Gel Stain and the rest of the piece received the “Bling Bling” factor. I applied two coats of Country Chic Paint in a limited edition spring colour called Ocean Breeze. I was also sent a lovely paint brush and with the paint, the two coats went on beautifully!! Unlike other products I’ve used, this product does not need a sealer although they do recommend their Top Coat for areas that will get a lot of wear.
So where does the Bling bling come in you ask? Well, Country Chic Paint has recently released a wonderful Metallic Cream that is applied directly over the paint. There are four colour finishes that are available. The one I originally ordered was called Trigger which is a dark pewter colour and I have to admit did not look great over the Ocean Breeze. The Trigger is just so dark and opaque and almost completely covered the blue. So on to plan “B”. I first repainted right over the metallic cream pewter colour … very easy as the cream is a water based product.
I then visited my local Country Chic Paint Retailer, Vintage Vogue in Smithville, Ontario and picked up the Silver Bullet colour in the Metallic Cream line to achieve this translucent very subtle shimmer over the entire piece. I applied it with an old sock in long sections…. so easy!!
The hardware got a bit of a spray of oil rubbed bronze and then a swipe of the Silver Bullet Metallic Cream.
I’m so happy with the way this piece turned out I’m keeping it for myself and its home will be in the guest bedroom!! It’s just the cutest thing!

Great job. I recently found one and redid it for a night stand. I built a box to fill the inside hole and to use it for storage. Yours turned out beautiful.
Studio Paint says
thank you Mandy… I just left the inside as is… I figured it wasn’t going to be used much in my guest room. I thought maybe to simply put a board on it to create a level surface if it needs to be opened.
Have a great day!
