This refinished oak table and painted press back chairs have been given a new lease on life. They were discovered in a B&B in Niagara Falls on “Simcoe” Street. It was pretty beat up and I imagine had been well used by many at this B&B.
I started by refinishing the top surface of the table. I first stripped it with chemical stripper, then sanded it and applied two coats of General Finishes Java Gel Stain. The rest of the refinished oak table which included the pedestal and apron of the table got painted in a colour called Coco by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
The chairs too received a couple of coats of Coco along some light distressing and a light glazing mixture of the gel stain and mineral spirits. What a great colour combination!! This would certainly compliment many decors. Shabby, country or cottage chic to name a few.
The table measures: 48″ round and has a 20″ insert for additional space if need be. There is four matching press back oak chairs.
