I recently picked up this refinished maple dining table on “East 16th” Street in Hamilton on “the mountain”. If you are from Hamilton you know that the Niagara Escapement in Hamilton is known as the “mountain”. It’s not really a “mountain” but distinguishes those that live “on” the mountain to those that live “down” the mountain.
I picked it up knowing that I wanted to pair it up with a set of maple painted chairs that I’ve had sitting around for quite some time. I painted these chairs with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in slightly different shades of white. One with a slight green hue, another with a slightly blue hue and the other two with a white and cream colour. Perfect to match up with the painted Old White pedestal base and apron of the maple table.
Quick Tip: For me, in order to get that perfect Farmhouse look, I like to distress all of those perfect edges to give it that aged look that resembles a lovely warm worn appearance that an old farmhouse would. Just Perfect!
The top of the table was stripped, sanded and stained with Antique Walnut Gel Stain by General Finishes. I applied three coats of stain and a couple of coats of Minwax Wipe-on polyurethane. It really did turn out splendidly.
The table measures: 42 “D x 30″H + 2 x 8” leaves
This shabby chic dining set would look lovely in a farmhouse/ new country chic breakfast nook off your kitchen.
