This very long painted teal dresser, that also by the way comes with a beautiful ornate mirror, has been sitting in my studio for quite a while now. I picked it up at one of our local thrift shops in Niagara.
One of the volunteers at the shop is a lovely young lady that also sells “Poffertjes” at our local seasonal market in town. I had never tasted these yummy Dutch mini pancakes before I had them at our local market one afternoon a few years ago when we first moved to the area, and served with whipped cream and icing sugar – to die for!!
This is a piece made by the Peppler Furniture Co. in Hanover Ontario. It’s made from solid oak, with lovely details and is sturdy as nails. I’ve had this combination of paint also purchased for some time but haven’t been able to get to it until now. I used a combination of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in 1:1 Florence and Aubusson Blue. My friend from The Painted Bench in Hamilton, Melanie Anderson suggested I try this combination for a blue teal colour that I was looking to achieve and it was perfect!!
After two coats of the paint I applied the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Soft Clear Wax to all of the surfaces and then right away got to the glazing. I used the General Finishes Van Dyke Brown Glaze to give the surface a more aged look and the colour a deeper patina. I really, really love the outcome of this combination of products. The hardware was cleaned and given a light spray of Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze.
This piece measures: 72″W x 20″D x 32″H.
The mirror measures: 35″W x 49″H
This is the most amazing piece…. it’s certainly a show stopper!!

I love painted furniture. It is always amazing to me how a plain jane piece of furniture can take on a new life once it is painted. This dresser is beautiful. What a great color you selected.
