I have to say, this painted maple end table sure is heavy!! If you’ve ever picked up a piece of furniture and it’s super heavy, it could certainly be maple. Last month I received some paint for a contest from Country Chic Paints and this is one of their spring limited editions colours called “Dune Grass”. I really enjoy working with this paint. It goes on so wonderfully and if you are not distressing can look very even and smooth. Another advantage to using this paint is the fact that you don’t need to seal it!!
Because I did distress this piece I used a natural clear wax product by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. The top was stripped, sanded and stained with General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain. Now, maple can be tricky. I find I have to do multiple coats with lots of dry time between them, otherwise, I find I get stain-lift when applying the polyurethane coat. I used General Finishes Gel Topcoat to finish the look.
So pretty!! This piece would look great as an end table, a night table or even a small media stand. Oh, and I forgot to mention that this was another roadside rescue. I’m not exactly sure where my husband picked this one up? Another great find honey-gotta love it!!
It measures: 26 1/2″W x 21″D x 22 1/2″H
