This lovely painted baby chest is going into “Krysten’s” new baby room. I just love the size of it… it’s almost the size of a small dresser. It actually looks a little bit like a dresser with all those faux drawer fronts and great hardware. As you can image, this lovely Huppé and Frères made by Victoriaville in Québec is really heavy and solid.
Krysten wanted white so my choice nine times out of ten is going to be Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. It’s simply the easiest paint to work with, especially if you are going to apply a distressing technique (which I so love). I applied two coats of paint with a third in certain spots to cover the dark veneer. A light distressing was applied to all the lovely edges and details and finished with a water-based polyacrylic product. The hardware received a spray of oil rubbed bronze to give it that lovely contrast.
Lucky baby to have a great Mom to set up their room to look like a million bucks!! I can’t wait to see this painted baby chest in its new home.
