This lovely Lamp Black Painted Desk for my client Linda turned out wonderfully! After sending me some photos of the desk in her beautiful large foyer, I had to agree with her that the black was a perfect choice to ground the desk and her vignette she was hoping to create in that area.
Now I have to explain why I named this piece “Mirrors”. When Linda dropped and picked up this piece and the Eggplant Painted Cabinet this week I noticed she was very proficient in her abilities behind the wheel. She so very confidently reversed her SUV up our long driveway between our cars and the lawn with no issues at all. I complimented her on her abilities and she told me that her husband told her a long time ago to use her “Mirrors” and from that point on she has reversed like a pro!!! Well done.
Because Linda wanted her desk to be painted black my choice for a true black was Lamp Black milk paint by General Finishes. After cleaning the surface with the GF recommendations of 1:1 denatured alcohol and water with a sanding sponge and allowing it to dry I applied two full coats with a third in spots to ensure full coverage.
A couple of coats of High-Performance topcoat, also by General Finishes, in the satin finish, was added for a bit of a sheen and of course for protection and durability. It looks amazing! I can’t wait to see how it looks in your space, Linda!
