This lovely french provincial painted hutch was found in Greensville on Kew Court along with a matching buffet. The lady I purchased them from was downsizing and was very very sad to see these pieces go. They were her grandmothers that were purchased new many years ago.
I had a vision for this lovely french provincial painted hutch and that was to introduce a pop of some sort. I came across this silver and black starburst paper some time ago and knew that it would be perfectly matched up with ASCP Paris Gray.
I began by painting the whole cabinet twice in the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Paris Gray. From there I lightly distressed the edges of the piece. I applied a good coat of ASCP Clear Soft Wax to the surface and buffed to a wonderful shine.
I knew I wanted the paper on the back to be easily removed so I glued the wallpaper to foam board that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. Once I completed all pieces I inserted each into the spaces between the shelves and wow did it ever start to look great!!
The hardware was sprayed with Rustoleum Antique Bronze then a careful addition of silver gilding wax to both the hardware and the edges of the cabinet to give the french provincial painted hutch much more depth and dimension, just like the starburst paper that I added did.
The french provincial painted hutch measures 40″W x 17 1/2″D x 68 1/2″H that would be considered a smallish hutch, but perfect for the smaller space. Imagine this piece in your country french inspired kitchen/dining room or a storage cabinet in your master bedroom for extra towels and all your toiletries.
