This lovely four drawer Bombay Dresser was found in Burlington from a lovely couple that was downsizing. Their daughters were finishing university and moving away. I just loved the straight lines and bowed front drawers. The Hepplewhite hardware is also just so classic.
I was inspired by a lady from Georgia that posted a photo of a painted dresser on a group I follow on Facebook. I just loved the colour. When I asked her what colour she used she described the colour as denim. “Blue Jeans” is my version of this denim. So I needed to come up with a custom combo of colours in the Annie Sloan line I currently have in the studio. I had just purchased some Aubusson Blue for a set of counter tables for another client and another mixture I had sitting around (1:1 Graphite and French Linen). This produced this deeply rich colour.
The body of the cabinet received two coats of this “Blue Jeans” colour, a light distressing and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Dark Wax to give it this beautiful aged patina. The top of the dresser was left as is. It was absolutely perfect because it had glass sitting on it all of these years. The beveled mirror to match the dresser was also given two coats of the custom colour, distressing and dark wax to finish. The handles on this four drawer Bombay dresser got a brushed nickel spray.
I think this will be sitting in my front foyer with the mirror until it is gone. Good size and tons of storage for all your “at the door” must haves. Very Chic!!
The dresser measures: 36″ W x 19″ D x 36″ H
The mirror measures: 22″ W x 32″ L
