My husband and I visited a young lady in west St. Catharines back in the fall to view a cabinet she had listed on Kijiji. Unfortunately, the cabinet didn’t pan out but after looking at some other odd pieces she had she showed us this lovely table that was in a closet holding extra tiles from a renovation project she had done. She lived on “Westdale” Dr. hence the name I gave this decoupaged occasional table.
While painting I noticed that it was stamped. I’ve posted a photo of it…. I’ve been trying to research the manufacturer but have come up empty. If any of you recognize this stamp please do let me know. I painted the cabinet in a colour called “Old Violet” by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. The top surface of the table has a leather top but as you can see I covered it in this wonderful Parisian paper I picked up from Melanie Anderson at the Painted Bench in Hamilton on Ottawa Street.
I took a decoupage class a couple of weeks ago with Melanie at the Painted Bench and learned how to work with it. I used Artisan Enhancements Transfer Gel to attach the image. After everything dried I applied a mineral spirit/dark wax mixture to the entire piece giving it a wonderful aged patina.
I just love how this decoupaged occasional table turned out!!
It measures: 18″ W x 18″ D x 25″ H
