“Geri” is a new client of mine that brought me this antique grey Jacobean dining set. She is moving from Pickering to Queenston and is setting up her new home in a way she describes as “her own”. She loves the idea of getting these good quality, sturdy old pieces and pick a colour and have it finished and upholstered to reflect her personality. She sent me a couple of photos for inspiration that she describes as antique grey. This is my version of what I saw.
I began by painting all the surfaces with my go to Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey. I did 2 coats and then began sealing everything with a product by Artisan Enhancements. This is a soy based oil product that has NO VOC’s and is so great to work with. It goes on very smoothly and is self-leveling. Once all the surfaces were dry, which coincidentally took much longer this week as humidity readings were very high in Southern Ontario, I glazed all the painted and sealed surfaces with General Finishes Van Dyke Brown Glaze.
Geri has decided to recover her chairs later in a mainly blue tartan as she and her husband are Scottish. I can’t wait to see this set in their new dining room. Please enjoy it Geri!!
